Description

Application Security – Monitoring and Mitigation NOS: Aligned to Competency Standards developed by SSC NASSCOM in collaboration with Industry and approved by Government

Application monitoring is the process to ensure that software applications, systems and networks maintain the levels of performance needed to support business outcomes.

Application environment consists of the different components that interact in a variety of ways to fulfill requests from the application's users:

  • Web applications served from an application server
  • Databases or other data stores
  • Remote services such as message queues and caches

Keywords

Application Performance Management, Code level performance, Real user monitoring (RUM), Code profiling, Error tracking, Centralized logging, Synthetic transaction monitoring, Digital experience monitoring, application discovery, tracing and diagnostics

Course Description

This course prepares the graduate student to employ the theoretical and conceptual underpinnings to understand the tools and techniques in application monitoring and log analysis.

Prerequisites

  • Network & Systems Administration
  • Log analysis tools
  • IT security architecture
  • Network security architecture
  • APM tools

Course Outline

  • Better understand application and infrastructure behavior and performance.
  • Improve the end-user experience.
  • Improve internal efficiency and productivity.
  • Decrease downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with application and end-user SLAs.
  • Reduce incidents and mean time to resolution for incidents.
  • Lower operational costs.
  • Monitoring end-user response time of your applications
  • Upping your game in transaction monitoring of your applications
  • Monitoring third-party services of your applications
  • Monitoring your mobile applications
  • Monitoring your cloud applications

Learning Objectives

  • An application performance monitoring tool not only ensures that your applications are performing as expected, or responding quickly, but also performing consistently.
  • Your users can access your applications at any time of the day.
  • Ensuring a consistent experience is critical in maintaining a positive user experience.
  • Consistent performance and understanding the stability of your underlying systems allows you to predict how they will perform with varying levels of traffic or activity.

Target Audience

Working Professional with Experience, Entry Level Working Professional, Graduates student.
